TCB: Why did you join The Collective Blueprint?
Shanika: The Collective Blueprint provided a way for me to move beyond a low-paying job to secure a well-paying, in-demand career opportunity in Memphis. I was visiting a community center when an upbeat Collective Blueprint recruiter gave a presentation about their awesome job-training programs. I was told I could complete an IT training program in several months at Tech 901 and pursue a career in the computer industry. I signed up on the spot! Now, I’m earning over $60,000 a year as an IT Support Analyst. Nothing shabby about that.
TCB: What did you like about the program?
Shanika: While enrolled in the training program, the Collective Blueprint provided me with support, including a financial stipend, a professional mentor, emergency childcare assistance and help with a transportation problem.
TCB: What advice would you give another young adult?
Shanika: The Collective Blueprint is what’s up for young people struggling to make it, who want a great career, with no degree required. My IT training has changed my life in a positive way. I’ve completed several additional classes, on my own, at Tech 901 because I want a career in the hot field of cyber security. I can earn $100,000 with expertise in that area of IT. I feel like the sky’s the limit!
